May 6th 2019: Sekhmet enters Aries, The Blazing Eye of the Sun, Lady of the Bloodbath, Flaming One. Sekhmet is at home in Aries, in her warrior form, relentlessly radiating shockwaves of ferocity from her essence of infinite rage.

Aries is the most Yang sign, and The Emperor is the most Yang major arcana- representing the life force movement of outward expansion, and everything that is required of us to claim and control our interdimensional personal space as we continue to grow in our awareness of, and establishment of, our selves.

Sometimes we expand ourselves into new realms motivated by rebellion, avoidance, or revenge. These spaces feel safe but they are unhealthy because they can not nurture any further growth.

Sometimes we go to great lengths to avoid claiming space that is rightfully ours because we know that interlopers are waiting and ready to sabotage us with discouragement and doubt. It is so common for us to choose to stay small and be at peace, rather than choose to fight daily to build more.

Sekhmet in Aries as the Emperor represents the power of enforcing your own authority over the sacred space needed for expression of the authentic self, where enemies are liquefied and then boiled into vapor.

Tarot Clarity – Venus in Aries – Seven of Wands

Venus in Aries. The planet of Yin enters the sign of Yang, the maximum masculine expression for the embodiment of female energy.

The Seven of Wands is the actualization of a dream, the inspired action that turns the divine awareness of the six into the perfect manifestation of the eight.

Venus in Aries as the Seven of Wands is a symbol of insemination, which is dominated even conceptually by the male perspective of ejaculation and triumph. But when the female egg is confronted with a river of sperm, there is no passive yin reception. She actively destroys them as they approach.

Aries energy makes it difficult for the feminine to feel satisfied. Here, she must learn to harness the power of yang and say no a thousand times in order to fully open up for one yin welcoming yes.

Tarot Clarity – Mercury in Aries – King of Swords

In the sign of the Ram, the left brain planet of logic and reason is Self-centered- which is a righteous and enlightened stance of leadership when the Self is actualized… but true Self-actualization is rare, and it is easy to see why Aries is known for childishness and war.

What we consider to be logical depends on what we value, which is why Mercury gets so heated here. The fire of Aries increases the contrast of black and white in our personal values, which decreases our ability to sift through nuance and different perspectives, but also actually refines the purity of the passion and rage that arises in response to a perceived moral wrong.

The King of Swords is the ultimate master of the the intellect. He knows where he stands: morals and values, logic and reason, are flawlessly, impeccably united. He does not seek out arguments, ever. He doesn’t need to… When he stays centered in his Self, he is the brick wall where untruths splatter. Mercury in Aries as the King of Swords is a sharpened mind, on point and en garde.

Words can be the most effective and devastating weapons in existence when wielded with intention and skill. But when we weaponize the truth to establish dominance and superiority for our personal point of view, we create misery for ourselves. This is the warning of the dismayed face on the king’s right shoulder. The face on the left shoulder seems optimistic and content- this is the wisdom of knowing which battles to choose. It can be a difficult, life-long lesson for Mercury in Aries natives to learn that not everything that contradicts our values, requires us to intervene.

April 3rd 2019: Asteroid Vesta enters Aries, the priestess of the sacred flame enters the sign of cardinal fire.

The Ten, like the Ace, symolizes something outside the realm of lived experience. The Ace represents the essence of the suit in the form of its seed potential, and the Ten represents the fulfillment of the potential, with the understanding that fulfillment of one suit fertilizes the seed of the next. The fulfillment of Wands fertilizes the seed of Swords; a creative passion that has reached its ultimate expression fertilizes a new journey in the intellectual realm.

Zero Aries is the first degree, first sign of the zodiac, which can be a spotlight on all the ways we feel like a neophyte. The Ten of Wands representing Vesta in Aries reminds us that we would not be at this new starting point at all, if not for the levels of mastery we already achieved. The intellectual goals that seem intimidating now, are evidence that we are successfully giving birth to a more authentic version of ourselves.

As flame must be controlled and sculpted to flourish, spread warmth, and serve, so must the soul. Without the ritual and skills of the flame-keepers, fire brings pain and loss. Vesta in Aries as the Ten of Wands is the one who has been enlightened to the mysteries of embodiment, ready to learn the rituals of the sacred flame and dedicate their service to the temple.
