Tarot Clarity – Persephone in Capricorn – Death

Asteroid Persephone spends almost all of 2019 in Capricorn, the sign of earth’s winter and throne room of Pluto, Hades, her husband. Her retrograde follows Saturn and the south node all summer long.

On the surface, the myth of Persephone is the myth of the seasons. On a deeper intuitive level, it is a map for how to achieve the healing paradox of transcending our trauma by embracing it. Persephone shows us how to face our darkness and how to be the light.

Death is what we call the card with no name, the flesh colored skeleton schything a black field of human bodies. Persephone in Capricorn as Death is a blessing for the end of things, a promise that the destruction is not annihilation, it is part of a cycle.

Tarot Clarity – Saturn in Capricorn – Seven of Swords

Saturn in Capricorn, from 12-19-2017 to 12-16-2020.

Saturn has a corrective effect, especially where people have faced obstacles on the path to learning the knowledge and discipline required for self-governance. In a poison culture that thrives on illusions of hyperindividualism, many grow up without ever reaching maturity, sold on childish fantasies about identity and life purpose. Saturn moves forces beyond our control that often crush our sense of who we are by showing us exactly what we can not achieve on our own.

Saturn can be Father Time, devourer of generations. But Saturn can also be the crone wisdom of the Grandmothers, the legacy of our ancestors, and Capricorn is a feminine sign. Saturn enforces our liability to the structures we create and holds us accountable to our place in history. In Capricorn it’s enforcing liability on our participation in the structures at the foundation of society (such as capitalism and catholicism).

The Seven of Swords is the card of zen nothingness, maximum active non-doing. It represents a level of focused calm that requires training and practice to embody. Saturn in Capricorn as the Seven of Swords is a feminine Saturn, a receptive Saturn, encouraging us to have faith that everything is unfolding as it was designed. And in the words of Jennifer D. Crumpton: “Following archaic rules, believing voices of authority that do not represent us, and waiting quietly for something to happen: those things are not faith.” Saturn wants us to thoroughly examine our motivations, spend time in deep contemplation visualizing our goals, plans, and strategies, and be completely responsible for ourselves. These things require active stillness, not action.

Tarot Clarity – Pluto in Capricorn – Nine of Pentacles

Pluto, king of the Kuiper Belt/Underworld in Capricorn, the southernmost realm of the Sun: 2008 – 2023. Gutting and cleaning. Endgame for the corporate structures that are manufacturing the end of life as we know it. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

The Nine is a crisis that indicates something nearing its completion. The orientation of the coins on the Nine of Pentacles shows that in the material realm, crisis is the herald of a new arrival.

Pluto in Capricorn as the Nine of Pentacles shows that the old world is dying and it will not persist in its current form. It will fall no matter what because its time is up. Meanwhile the new world needs midwives- this is where Pluto is transforming our individual life paths and the barriers that separate us from each other, so we will be able to participate in creating a new society.
