Tarot Clarity – Sekhmet in Virgo – Judgment

September 13th 2019: Sekhmet enters Virgo. She is The Awakener, Destroyer of Rebellions, Lady Of The Place Of The Beginning Of Time. The opposite of Chaos is Cosmos, and Sekhmet in Virgo embodies the divine order of the Cosmos.

sekhmet.6.virgo.judgement.jpg

Judgment is a card that depicts a scene where an angel is blowing a trumpet over two figures praying in front of a third blue figure who appears to be rising up out of a coffin. This card describes the process by which life goes on after all has been lost- the evolution of consciousness. Alejandro Jodorowsky calls this process “…a force defying death at work in our very lives… it manifests in the form of an imperious call to live in a new dimension.”

Virgo is the sign that rules the mystery of Earth’s seasons, the never ending cycle of birth, blossoming, loss, and death. Sekhmet in Virgo as Judgment reveals her glory as the original Mother/Destroyer, the nurse log, the miracle of new life resurrected from a grave.

Tarot Clarity – Sekhmet in Leo – Ace of Cups

August 23rd 2019: Sekhmet, The Sparkling One, The Gleaming One, Dread Lioness enters the sign of the Lion Heart with a proud roar, fearless and conquering. Sekhmet’s energetic correspondence with the Sun gives her an exalted quality in Leo. This placement destroys blocks to self-knowledge, exposing our innate awareness of identity and ultimate potential.

sekhmet.5.leo.ace.cups

The Ace of Cups represents the realm of feelings. It does not point to any particular emotion, it refers to the infinite potential from which all possible emotional realities emerge. In context here it seems to be a direct reference to the emotional layer of the aura, also known as the lightbody.

Sekhmet in Leo as the Ace of Cups invokes the mantra Sa Sekhem Sahu, which is a reference to harnessing the power of the breath to balance all layers of the lightbody. One of Sekhmet’s greatest gifts is self-realization, alignment with our higher selves.

Tarot Clarity – Sekhmet in Cancer – The World

July 27th 2019: Mother of the Gods, Mother of the Dead, Mother in the Horizon of the Sky, Sekhmet in Cancer emphasizes her role as the origin of our multiple dimensions, she is the one who opens and closes the doors of birth and termination.

The World is the final card of the major arcana and represents the fulfillment of totality. The first card, The Fool, shows a figure stepping out into the unknown, willing to be shaped by whatever life may bring across their path. The figure in the center of The World is stepping into total enlightenment with wisdom gained from completing every possible experience.

Sekhmet.cancer.world

The World as a symbol for Sekhmet in Cancer shows the intensity of this ancient goddess with power over every part of the human experience from the womb to demise, the strength to sculpt maturity out of ignorance, and the guidance to lead us from isolation to belonging.

Tarot Clarity – Sekhmet in Gemini – Eight of Swords

June 27th 2019: Sekhmet, Lady Of The Many Faces, Mother Of Images, The Aware, Sekhmet Of The Knives enters Gemini, the sign of the stream of consciousness. “Floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee.”

Swords are traditionally used as the suit of the mental realm, a double-edged blade used to attack and defend. Some modern Tarot traditions use the suit of Crystals to depict a vision of the mental realm that is multifaceted, inherently valuable, nonviolent, and organically from the Earth. The eight-pointed figure that appears in the center of the Eight of Swords is actually a flower, but I choose to see it as a polished crystal, like a mind that has been perfected in meditation.

sekhmet.gemini.eight.swords

The Eight of Swords is the card of intellectual perfection, stillness. It represents the mastery of emptiness required for receptivity in the mind. The Eight of Swords for Sekhmet in Gemini is a symbol of Sekhmet’s power to swallow the noise of a chaotic brain, making way for a more peaceful cerebral flow where we are able to consider all thoughts as they pass by without needing a dogmatic belief system to classify them as good or bad.

Tarot Clarity – Sekhmet in Taurus – Ten of Pentacles

May 31st 2019: Sekhmet, the Great Lady of The House of Life, the Devouring One, enters Taurus, the sign of growth establishing itself above ground. Seeds rupturing, reaching for the Sun.

Sekhmet.Taurus.10.pentacles

The Ten of Pentacles indicates that prosperity has been achieved and is pointing the way to a new creative purpose. The Ten of Pentacles is the card of someone who has saved up, bought a big house, and filled it with beautiful furnishings and decorations. Financial prosperity has a limit, beyond the point where our needs are met, more money and more posessions will not bring us more happiness. When the material series is complete, the creative series must begin. The purpose of the symbolic big house, is to fill it with symbolic children.

The Ten of Pentacles for Sekhmet in Taurus represents the gardener pulling the non-thrivers away from the robust ones, so the quality of the garden can achieve maximum success.

Tarot Clarity – Sekhmet in Aries – The Emperor

May 6th 2019: Sekhmet enters Aries, The Blazing Eye of the Sun, Lady of the Bloodbath, Flaming One. Sekhmet is at home in Aries, in her warrior form, relentlessly radiating shockwaves of ferocity from her essence of infinite rage.

Aries is the most Yang sign, and The Emperor is the most Yang major arcana- representing the life force movement of outward expansion, and everything that is required of us to claim and control our interdimensional personal space as we continue to grow in our awareness of, and establishment of, our selves.

sekhmet.aries.emperor

Sometimes we expand ourselves into new realms motivated by rebellion, avoidance, or revenge. These spaces feel safe but they are unhealthy because they can not nurture any further growth.

Sometimes we go to great lengths to avoid claiming space that is rightfully ours because we know that interlopers are waiting and ready to sabotage us with discouragement and doubt. It is so common for us to choose to stay small and be at peace, rather than choose to fight daily to build more.

Sekhmet in Aries as the Emperor represents the power of enforcing your own authority over the sacred space needed for expression of the authentic self, where enemies are liquefied and then boiled into vapor.

Tarot Clarity – Sekhmet in Pisces – Ace of Swords

Sekhmet in Pisces, the sign that rules subconscious mysteries, collective dreams and illusions, embodying the primal and cosmic spirit that mutes the frontal lobe- also known as intoxication.

Sekhmet.pisces.ace.wands
The Ace of Swords represents the potential of cognition- not referring to specific thoughts or ideas, but the capacity for knowledge; not referring to awareness of a concept, but to the observer consciousness that is aware of its own awareness.

The word “intoxication” has a negative connotation, based on the word “toxin” which is taken to mean “a harmful substance” where “harmful” refers to the impairment of the functions of the frontal lobe- the so-called executive performance functions of attention and memory.

But there is no such thing as “a harmful substance” only harmful doses. Anything that heals, can also kill, if taken in the wrong amount or wrong application. Sekhmet encompasses this truth: She Who Protects Her Children is also The Mother Of The Dead.

The frontal lobe is crucial for 3D comprehension and analysis: We remember events and patterns from the past, and use those memories to make judgements and predict what will happen in the present moment and future. The brain is so sophisticated, but at the same time, so blind to the ways that our reliance on 3D neural networks, causes us to repeat and perpetuate 3D realities. When the heartspace and all layers of the lightbody are awakened and fully integrated, we can free ourselves from dependence on the frontal lobe, which exponentially increases the power of the heartspace to access realtime intuition. Of course most people are so thoroughly disconnected from their heartspace that when the frontal lobe goes offline it leads to violence and horror. But intoxication is the turning point that soothes the wrath of Sekhmet.

The Ace of Swords beautifully symbolizes the infinite potential of the brain, the magic of neuroplasticity, and the innate flexibility of the mind. Sekhmet in Pisces as The Ace of Swords is about the discipline it takes to control the mind and stay floating, swirling, unbound from rigid grooves. The brain is a wonderful servant but a terrible master.

Tarot Clarity – Sekhmet in Aquarius – Justice

On March 7th 2019, asteroid Sekhmet enters Aquarius, my natal placement for the original goddess, the mother of all other gods.

Libra is cardinal air- the firmament. Gemini is mutable air- wind. Aquarius is fixed air- lightning.

The embodiment of how maturity forms from adversity, her unseen fingers of blazing destruction touching down with love and life, Sekhmet in Aquarius is the Lady of the Lightning, gracefully shrieking and flinging her rhythm upon the stone drums of this wounded earth.

sekhmet.aquarius.justice

Justice is the symbol of balance. Her knee and elbow purposefully influencing the position of the scales, and the asymmetrical design of the card, are blatant reminders that balance is not a concept of unbothered stillness. It is a dynamic process of reckoning and accountability. Equity and equality are not the same thing. Justice is the symbol of perfection without perfectionism.

Sekhmet and Justice both represent maximum wisdom, which is of course maternal wisdom. The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world. Sovereignty, self-governing, personal authority… these concepts become deeply poisoned in wounded mother lines, the root cause of poor boundaries and low self esteem. Justice representing Sekhmet in Aquarius is a meditation on sovereignty, taking a stand to claim that which is yours, and firmly rejecting that which is not yours.
