July 3rd 2019: The Goddess of Love settles down in mother’s moon cave, activating an alliance of divine feminine energies: wisdom, intuition, poise. In Gemini, Venus gets to climb every tree. In Cancer, Venus can see the whole forest.

The Two of Swords is the card of the everyday subconscious. It refers to any activity in the mental realm in the absence of conscious thoughts. The hidden processes that provide the foundation for our ideas and beliefs are represented by the flower and leaves exploding in the center of the card, riches bubbling up from under the surface of the mind.

Venus in Cancer as the Two of Swords represents the daydreams that reveal our true desires and the psychic visions that reveal our true power. It embodies the Yin ideal of finding wholeness in emptiness, allowing things to be as they are, observing, and nurturing, but never imposing our will.

Tarot Clarity – Eros in Libra – Two of Wands

Eros in Libra, the God Prince of Love in the sign of beauty and partnership, the palace of his mother Venus. In Libra, Eros embodies the Cupid archetype popularly imagined as a cherub. Cupid’s arrows are his divine birthright. He is the immortal entity responsible for directing the circumstances that bring lovers together.

The Two of Wands is a card that usually indicates insecurity and inhibitions: creative or sexual flow that is stuck behind an energetic block. Eros in Libra inverts this interpretation of the Two of Wands around the concept of desire.

The word “virgin” doesn’t just mean someone who has never had sex. A child who has no concept of sex or attraction does not think of themselves as a virgin. The deeper implication is that a virgin is someone who has become aware of their sexuality but has not acted on it yet. Eros is aroused for the first time when a youth realizes that they are a virgin.

In our culture, there is a misplaced emphasis on the significance of the first sexual act, so recognition of virginity tends to enter our minds as the perception that we are lacking something important. The magic of Cupid is that he can return us to the same blush of innocent hunger with each and every new lover we encounter in our lives, so it is also common to feel the same impression of absence. When we define ourselves by what we don’t have and/or haven’t done, the result is always going to be the Two of Wands: insecurity and inhibitions.

The Two of Wands representing Eros in Libra teaches us that desire in its healthiest and most potent form does not view the self as lacking love, it views the self as a place where love belongs. Desire is a sensory celebration of our capacity for new experiences. Desire is a call for love to come home.

Tarot Clarity – Vesta in Taurus – Two of Pentacles

June 9th 2019: The goddess of the hearth enters Taurus, the sign of gathering resources. The name Vesta literally means Hearth- a reference not to the fire itself, but the container where the fire is built, stoked, and preserved.

The Two of Pentacles can be summarized as, the card of unfinished business. Like a foundation that has been set, for a house that has not yet been built; Like a collection of paints and brushes, that will be used to create a masterpiece; Like a casual acquaintance, that is destined to become a close friend.

Vesta in Taurus as the Two of Pentacles is a message about collecting your firewood. A Hearth is an empty chamber until we fill it with fuel and attend to it with our devotion.

Tarot Clarity – Mercury in Cancer – Two of Cups

Mercury in Cancer is a unique placement in the sign ruled by the Moon because it is the only heavenly body that has a faster apparent motion than the innermost planet. When Mercury is in Cancer, the emotional layer of the lightbody receives more stimulation than the mental. This brings feelings into a sharper focus, which makes them harder to control when they are more prominent than our thoughts, but can also be clarifying in the way that it influences us to communicate differently.

The Two of Cups is the card that symbolizes being ready for love. The Three of Cups is when a new love appears, but the Two is the moment of individuation where the innocent selfishness of childhood gives way to an awareness of a desire for connection.

The Two of Cups represents how Mercury in Cancer can make us better listeners, more sensitive in our choice of words, honoring our own vulnerability with compassion for others, and seeking cooperation and mutual support.
