Tarot Clarity – Sekhmet in Virgo – Judgment

September 13th 2019: Sekhmet enters Virgo. She is The Awakener, Destroyer of Rebellions, Lady Of The Place Of The Beginning Of Time. The opposite of Chaos is Cosmos, and Sekhmet in Virgo embodies the divine order of the Cosmos.

sekhmet.6.virgo.judgement.jpg

Judgment is a card that depicts a scene where an angel is blowing a trumpet over two figures praying in front of a third blue figure who appears to be rising up out of a coffin. This card describes the process by which life goes on after all has been lost- the evolution of consciousness. Alejandro Jodorowsky calls this process “…a force defying death at work in our very lives… it manifests in the form of an imperious call to live in a new dimension.”

Virgo is the sign that rules the mystery of Earth’s seasons, the never ending cycle of birth, blossoming, loss, and death. Sekhmet in Virgo as Judgment reveals her glory as the original Mother/Destroyer, the nurse log, the miracle of new life resurrected from a grave.

Tarot Clarity – Mercury in Virgo – Queen of Wands

August 29th 2019: Mercury enters Virgo, the planet of rational thought stimulating the higher brain functions that require cognitive skills and the voluntary effort of concentration, including organization, adaptation, and memory retrieval. Pisces is the subconscious, and Virgo is the frontal lobe.

The Queen of Wands is the everyday priestess/witch, independent and free from restrictions on her self-expression and growth, in full ownership of her garden and her craft. She has mastered her creativity and sexual energy, using the wisdom of discretion to decide when, where, how and why to unleash its wild powers.

mercury.6.virgo.queen.wands

Mercury in Virgo as the Queen of Wands is like a sex education instructor for schoolchildren, introducing a clinical approach to a carnal world. Passion can be self-destructive if we can’t see the forest for the trees. Mercury in Virgo is all about the details that clarify the big picture, and the Queen of Wands shows how this placement can translate the earthy intensity of desire into the code of divine order.

Tarot Clarity – Juno in Virgo – Six of Wands

August 23rd 2019: Juno enters Virgo, the queen of heaven as the executive director for Earth’s 3D matrix and the laws governing energy exchange. Nothing slips past her attention, every detail is taken into consideration and accounted for. Cleanliness is next to godliness.

The Six of Wands is the card of the true artist. Before reaching this stage, the spirit seeks outside of itself for inspiration, and yearns to be a part of something beautiful. Possibilities must be considered and education pursued. There must be committment, practice, challenges, and risks. The Six of Wands represents the master who has transcended all of that and creates effortlessly from their inner connection with the divine flow.

juno.virgo.six.wands

Juno in Virgo as the Six of Wands is a big picture symbol that shows all Earth systems functioning in harmony, all matter built by an alphabet of elements, all beings defined by genetic codes, all things unfolding as they should. To be able to align with this divine flow requires us to develop healthy boundaries, which are powerful coping mechanisms for the inherent intractability of 3D life.

Tarot Clarity – Sun in Virgo – Page of Cups

August 23rd 2019: The Sun leaves Leo, the sign of its essential expression, and enters Virgo, where solar codes are translated and ritualized into the cycle of Earth’s seasons. The lessons of the sacred flame can be found in the progression from Leo to Virgo- fixed fire to mutable earth- the lessons of embodiment.

Everyone alive today between the ages of 8 and 80 has fixed star Regulus, the Heart of the Lion constellation, on their natal chart at 29 Leo, marking the end of an era that lasted for 2,160 years where the human heartspace was imprinted with the archetype of kings and crusades. Regulus shifted from Leo to Virgo in November of 2011, and now the Lion Heart codes are received as archetypes of earth priestesses. Our task in human history is to make the heartspace transition from a Leo expression of domination, hierarchy, and pride, to a Virgo expression of ritual, substance, and belonging.

Virgo is the natural home of Ceres, the goddess often attributed to the bland keyword “agriculture.” But she is the goddess of the mysteries of the grain, and her role is in the effect on human consciousness when crops are planted and a relationship is formed with the earth, investing knowledge and effort into the land for best outcomes, knowing you are beholden to natural forces beyond your control, and always making accommodations for the variance of the seasons: planting, harvest, loss, repeat.

sun.virgo.page.cups

The Page of Cups is a symbol of someone who is not sure how they really feel. Bertrand Russell famously said “The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people are so full of doubts.” The Page of Cups embodies these wise doubts. He has taken the lid off his cup and is peering inside, questioning. This is a card for someone taking a new look at how their emotions filter their experience of reality, for the first or for the 100th time. It can be equally relevant for someone who suppresses their emotions and wants to learn how to open up, as for someone whose emotions are messy and volatile and wants to learn how to hold themselves accountable.

Sun in Virgo as the Page of Cups shows the importance of continually taking inventory of your emotions, because there is work that must be done here, to weave a masterpiece of life from a million tiny threads, to take infinite words and create recipes with a simple grammar, to bring divine order to earth. Doing this Virgo work has a funny way of exposing all challenges to your sense of secure emotional maturity, requiring a Page of Cups mentality to self-examination.

A King is someone whose power comes from the respect of many followers. A Priestess is someone whose power comes from self control and commitment to ritual.

Tarot Clarity – Venus in Virgo – The Lover

August 21st 2019: Venus enters Virgo, getting right to the heart of feminine perfectionism, the maternal work ethic, emotional investment in a structured routine of countless seemingly insignificant service acts that cumulatively add up to love. Venus in Virgo is the stay at home mom who calls herself a Domestic Engineer, Director of Child Development. She gets so much fulfillment from executing the duties of meeting others’ needs that she can easily intellectualize away her own desires with “shoulds” and “should nots.”

venus.virgo.lover

The Lover is a card about ambiguity and confusion. It’s about how different points of view on a single situation can create multiple conflicting narratives. It’s about secrets and rumors, or being caught red handed in a taboo act. When we truly abandon ourselves to the divine Lover, we often find ourselves in situations where we make choices that transcend sociocultural expectations and the moral principles we were raised with- choices that can have a tendency to disappoint, shock, or outright harm the people who depend on having predictable, practical relationships with us.

The Lover for Venus in Virgo shows the friction between being reliable and following your heart. An important lesson for this transit and placement is really understanding that there are always, always multiple points of view, but there is very rarely ever a best one. It is the maturing of feminine energy from feeling pressured to make “correct” decisions, to the realization that there is no right or wrong, just perspectives.

Tarot Clarity – Mars in Virgo – Nine of Cups

August 17th 2019: After being tested by the aggressive final degrees of Leo, Mars graduates to the sign of Virgo. Mars in Virgo is the ancient masculine monk/priest archetype, that is embodied best in the modern era by the archetype of a professor in a book-filled office, a world leading expert in his chosen field of study, never making time for a relationship or family, his passion directing him to use all of his life to research, collect a body of knowledge, and teach earnest students.

The Nine of Cups represents what Alejandro Jodorowsky calls “the autumn of the heart,” time to harvest the emotions in such a way that we are ready to move on. He also mentions sacrifice and detachment- core concepts of mutable earth sign Virgo.

mars.virgo.nine.cups

Mars in Virgo as the Nine of Cups is a symbol of the teacher/student dynamic, and the radical detachment strategy utilized by the most effective professors, in order to give all that they can give without micro-managing their students’ struggles in learning, their efforts in class, and their level of understanding of the material. His focus should not be up close on the student’s emotional experience, but from a higher perspective, on teaching the syllabus term after term and continually developing a deeper and more relevant curriculum- and most importantly, doing what it takes to be able to show up consistently. Mars in Virgo is the energy of the magnetic classroom connection that happens when students can rely on great professors to be predictable yet challenging, caring and yet totally impartial.

Tarot Clarity – Apophis in Virgo – Page of Swords

July 5th 2019: Apophis enters Virgo, the god of chaos in the sign of order. Virgo is where all things are assigned a purpose and a place, giving stability to our mental construct of the world. Apophis throws curveballs into the system, making us question our own sanity.

The Page of Swords is the embodiment of what it means to be in your own way. He has this great sword but doesn’t even seem to know how to hold it properly, let alone how to use it. He’s all dressed up but doesn’t know which way to go. It’s the intellectual decadence of entertaining all thoughts and ideas with no guiding principles, no ethics. He doesn’t stand for something; he will fall for anything.

apophis.virgo.page.swords

Apophis in Virgo as the Page of Swords is a symbol of the confusion felt when the structures we rely on to make sense of our world get jumbled by unpredictable events, and gives direction for how to react: it starts with being humble enough to acknowledge that we don’t know what we don’t know. Information that lacks the proper context can be more dangerous than ignorance. The Page of Swords has a yellow “third eye” on his hat, showing that he is not focused on taking action, but rather is receptive to a greater awareness.

Tarot Clarity – Eros in Virgo – The Star

May 5th 2019: Asteroid Eros enters Virgo, the sign of highly organized brainpower and a humbled self in service to others. On the surface it may seem paradoxical to blend sophisticated intellect with mundane tasks, but that is the art and science of the mutable earth sign.

Eros represents our fear of being truly seen, both longing for and running from sacred union. Eros exposes the longing and yearning that arises from the subconscious when we work to hide the parts of ourselves that we need to share to experience the unique ways that other people can love us.

The Star is the card of finding your place in the world: in other words, leveling up your experience of embodiment by dissolving the imaginary boundary between you and everything else, and allowing an equal exchange of sacred light from self to environment and from environment to self.

eros.virgo.star

After Eros transits Leo, where he faces his insecurities, Eros in Virgo as the Star is about making the transformation to maturity, realizing that if he wants to be in true divine union with Psyche, he cannot keep shooting arrows on a whim creating random obsessions and lust for his own amusement. Virgo is where Eros learns to shoot arrows from a place of higher purpose- service- so he can then enter Libra and step into the true power of his gift: an enlightened matchmaker for soulmates.
